Barriers of Soceity

POETRY

One question, eight words altogether
Won’t take much time or effort to say
But could change one’s life all life long
Instead of pushing your beliefs onto someone else today
Open your eyes and realize what you are doing is wrong
Put yourself into the other’s shoe to find a cure
And think about what you would want to hear
And immediately these words will tumble out for sure
Diminishing their fear of attempting to be right all this long
And trying to second-guess their lives
When there really is no right or wrong
It’s all what the rules we as society make and use as knives
Threatening to outcast those who do not conform
To what we believe is right
Ask the question to break away from the norm
Both you and them to take a new flight
By now you should have figured out the question,
Which is simply to ask, “What is it that you want to do?”
